Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources Peter Batchelor and CitiPower/Powercor CEO Shane Breheny examine the technologies that will be used to deliver Victoria's smart meter roll out
ENA Member companies, CitiPower and Powercor Australia, recently announced more than $300 million in contracts for the roll out of smart meters across Victoria over the next four years.
The roll out represents one of the largest investments in the Victorian industry since its privatisation and creates the platform for energy consumers to better manage and understand their electricity consumption.
As the peak national body representing Australia’s electricity distribution and transmission networks ENA welcomes the announcement. ENA is the only industry body representing electricity networks on the NSSC– which is providing advice to the Government on the design and implementation of smart networks and the national smart metering program.
The National Smart Meter roll-out and initial implementation of small scale demonstration projects represent the first steps towards the establishment of a truly smart energy network.
ENA and our member companies have been at the forefront of establishing smart networks in Australia that will allow for more efficient use of power and a more reliable supply for consumers.
